84) Event News: Summer Series TT at Marconi Sailing Club - Race Report

27 competitors took part in the first 40th Anniversary Sprint 15 Summer TT at Marconi SC on 14th and 15th April including an impressive home turnout of 13 boats.  We were also pleased to welcome Nigel and Fiona Denchfield as guest Races Officers for the event.

In addition to the racing, we welcomed the winner of our competition at the Dinghy Show for a cat coaching session with Brian from Windsport. 

As forecast, there was no wind in the morning but with a light breeze forecast for later in the afternoon it was decided to postpone racing for an hour.  With the AP dropped ashore, the fleet headed out to the race area off picturesque Osea Island in a pleasantly mild afternoon with a light breeze.

85) Event News: Summer Series Teach-in at Marconi Sailing Club - Race Report

Nine boats took part in the Sprint 15 Teach In at Marconi on Saturday 7th April led by David Ball and Chris Tillyer. We were particularly pleased to welcome Armin from Brightlingsea who has just bought Gordon Deuce’s boat and ventured to Marconi for his first ever Sprint 15 sail. Also joining us was Jemma Clarke from Marconi who had her first proper sail in a Sprint 15, alongside her Dad and her brother and we hope she will join the fleet too! Donald Sloan travelled down from Felixtowe Ferry as did Rob Wilson from Stone – together with a home fleet. more..

The Grafham Sprint 15 Icicle traveller event was run on 25 March in a light North Easterly breeze. The event comprised of 3 races (for the first time) and was run as the first start of club racing.

The Draycote Sprint 15 TT greeted us with a dull, grey and cold January morning and the water looked anything but inviting. As I dropped my sail off I was greeted by a beaming Derek James who enthusiastically informed me that there was an 11 knot wind forecast and it looked like we would have a good day...

Hello everyone, another six months has flown by and we are heading into 2018, our 40th year. First I would like to thank other committee members for all their help, in particular Jenny Ball. In addition to this we have some new committee members, Erling Holmberg (southern rep) Gordon Deuce, Dave Warnock both general committee members & our new treasurer Nigel James. George Love is back for a one-off special helping to co-ordinate our 40th year celebrations.
